What Page Names are Allowed on Facebook?
Before requesting a name change that may be rejected, I recommend you review the Business Page name guidelines. Some rules may surprise you!
Page names must accurately reflect the Page. Keep in mind that only authorized representatives can manage a Page for a brand, place, organization or public figure.
Page names can’t include:
- Terms or phrases that may be abusive or violate someone’s rights.
- The word “official” if the Page isn’t the official Page of a brand, place, organization or public figure.
- Improper capitalization (example: tHe best CaFE). Page names must use grammatically correct capitalization and may not include all capital letters, except for acronyms.
- Symbols (example: ® ) or unnecessary punctuation.
- Descriptions or slogans (example: The Best Cafe – We serve the best coffee in town). People who manage Pages can add this information to a Page’s About section.
- Any variation of the word “Facebook.”
Page names can’t consist only of:
- Generic words (example: Pizza). Pages must be managed by official representatives of the topics they’re about.
- Generic geographic locations (example: New York). However, you can create a Page name for an organization that represents a geographic location. For example, “New York City – Mayor’s Office” and “Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain” are acceptable Page names. source
In addition, there is a limit of 75 characters in your Page name.
This should be plenty! Think short and memorable. Further descriptions should be placed in your About section.
Why Can’t I Change my Facebook Page Name?
Not every Page can change its name at any time it wishes.
Here are reasons you might not be able to change the name of your business Page:
- You don’t have a Page role that allows you to change your Page’s name. Learn how to see your Page role.
- You or another admin recently changed your Page’s name (details below).
- There may be limits on your Page (details below).
- You can’t change the name of a regional Page if it falls under a global Page. source
How often can you change a Facebook page name?
Facebook now tells you, right before you confirm your Page name request:
Our review may take up to 3 days and require additional information.
If your name change is approved, you won’t be able to unpublish the Page or change the name again for 7 days.
During this time we may also let the people who like your Page know the name’s been updated.
Constantly changing your Page name is confusing for your customers and followers. And it might make Facebook decide your page is spammy.
Decide on a name you want to keep and don’t change it unless truly necessary.
Why would my FB Page have limits imposed?
- Not all admins of your Page have authentic profiles.
- Your Page has admins that continue to go against Facebook policies.
- Your Page has a misleading name.
- Your Page posts content that may mislead people who like or follow your Page.
- The content posted on your Page goes against FB hate speech policies.
Want more details about limits? Find them on this Facebook help page.
How to Fix if you Can’t Change your Page Name
Review these 4 possible workarounds to see if they might apply to your Page. Then #6 will explain the only way I know of to contact Facebook about your Page name problems.
1 | Wait at least 7 days
If you’ve requested a change recently, give it at least 7 days before trying again.
2 | Contact your Facebook ad rep
If your Page runs Facebook ads, you’ve got an “in.”
Talk to your account rep about your need to change your Page name for business – s/he should be able to make that happen.
The advertising team will understand that your brand is not going to run paid ads if your Facebook page name is not your correct company name.
When money talks, Facebook listens 😉
3 | Change your Facebook Page category
I changed my Page Name years ago, so I don’t know if this option is still available. But I’m leaving it here so you can try it. Let me know!
Warning: If you have a verified Page, you may lose your verification if you change your category.
If you’ve never changed your Page name, but still don’t see the Edit option, try changing your Page category to Brands & Products or Companies & Organizations, and click Save Changes. The Request Change link should magically appear!
Now click Request Change and fill out the form (sample below).
Note that you have a choice of reasons for the Page name change request.
If you select that your business name has changed, you will almost certainly be required to provide documentation. Logos, business cards, and websites are not acceptable.
You can choose “Other” and explain in the text area.
My first choice was to change my Page name to match my website: How-To Social Media Graphics, and explain in “Other” that my business had evolved. I decided that had a high risk of being rejected.
I chose to request a very similar name to my then-current Louise Myers Graphic Design: Louise Myers How-To Graphics. I then selected “My Page name is misspelled” as the best option. (Don’t even ask how long I deliberated over this!)
Note: Hyphens (as shown in the screen shot) are no longer allowed in Facebook Names – either Page or personal profile.
Before submitting your Page name change request be 100% certain of 2 things:
- This is the Page name you want for the life of your Page. At one time, Facebook allowed just ONE change, and they could revert to this at any time.
- Your Fan page is 100% compliant with Facebook Terms of Service. Your Page could be shut down once it’s scrutinized by Facebook. Click with caution!
Upload any pertinent documentation, and click Send.
Wait to hear from FB on your Page name change request.
You should get an auto-reply quickly. I can’t say how long it will take for Facebook to review your request and respond – the auto-reply says up to 3 days. For me it only took one day plus a half hour. And it was approved!
4 | Change your Facebook Page name a little at a time
If you’re having problems, this is worth a shot. I’ve heard from several people saying this worked for them.
Only change 1-2 words at a time.
For example:, say I wanted to change Louise Myers Graphic Design to How-To Social Media Graphics.
Step 1: Change to Louise Myers How-To Graphics
Step 2: Change to How-To Graphics
Step 3: Change to How-To Social Media Graphics
Adapt this process to your own situation.
Be sure you wait at least a week between each name change request.
5 | How to change your Facebook Page name a SECOND time
This is an older hack offered by a reader. It may or may not still work. You need to have “Global Pages” though.
You can learn more about Global Pages on FB help here, and if this might apply to your Page and situation. The creator of the SlideShare offers to answer questions – you can contact him via the info on slide 11.
How to Change FB Page Name Second Time from Jacek Janicki
6 | How to contact Facebook about Page name problems
As a last resort, you can contact Facebook. I say “last resort” because they are notoriously unhelpful.
I haven’t tried this form though – maybe it’ll get you the help you need. Please let us know if you try it!
Log into FB as an admin of the Page you need help with. Then visit the FB / Meta Business Help support page.
If you manage more than one Page, choose the one you need help with.
Then choose the issue you need help with, which in our case is to change the name of a Page.
FB will return some general tips, which we’ve covered thoroughly above. If they didn’t work, click the “Contact Support” button.
Fill out the form with your contact info, then “provide information that will help us investigate.” Attach screenshots of error messages or anything relevant you may have saved.
Then click “Send Email” and hope for the best 🙂

So this post isn’t actually correct. It states you cannot change your name again on a page but you can. you can change it as often as you want, it just has to be after 7 days of waiting. Would be great if people are going to give this information they do it correctly.
Louise Myers says
You may have been skimming quickly, which is understandable. FB does change their policies often which is why I provide this warning:
Note it says “may not” not “will not”.
And I also state:
It’s hard to keep up with Facebook’s changes and often their own information is wrong! But in the case of this article, I did in fact “do it correctly.”

I’ve been trying for a few years to change my page’s name. There’s no option to edit it… I’ve followed all the instructions here… it’s been years since I changed it, I’m the administrator.

I have been trying for weeks to change our business page name…Gulf Shores Realty ERA Powered to Gulf Shores Realty. Unsuccessfully. It doesn’t give me a reason why it will not work. Is there any support on how to get this done?
Louise Myers says
There’s no Facebook contact, if that’s what you’re looking for. I have no other ideas than what I’ve listed above. Wait at least a week. Take off 1 word at a time if necessary. Try reporting the issue here: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/support
Good luck!

Hello,
I need to know what I can do about the limits that are on my page. None of the reasons mentioned are any that are related to why I should have limits on my page. Because of this I can’t update the name. It will not even accept a submission. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for the information.
Louise Myers says
Sorry, unfortunately I don’t.
Alex says
I have no desire to change my Facebook page name but some bloody hacker decided to change it to a rando Vietnamese name. I think I managed to kick them out but now I can’t change it back for 7 days? Great because we wouldn’t want to “confuse” my page followers by changing it from a rando Vietnamese thing to the band’s actual name would me?!?! And not that you can actually reach anyone at Faceb… sorry Meta to help you, that’s too much to ask. Too busy messing around in cyberspace to give a hoot.

I’m tearing my hair out with how difficult Facebook are to deal with. I’ve been trying to change my business page name after coming out of a Franchise and re-branding. I don’t want to close the page down as I want to retain all my posts and videos etc.
I want to go from Absolute Works HR Dorset over to Skora HR Dorset. I have tried everything even the one word change but nothing works and there is no-one to talk to. I haven’t even been getting notification that it’s been denied each time to be able to appeal.
Any ideas!?
Louise Myers says
I have no other ideas to change your page name. You can try FB business help here or as a last resort, create a new page and try to merge the current one with it. There’s no guarantees FB will approve that either tho.
chang says
I need help!! I recently change my facebook business page name. But every time I go to the business page, I can’t see my previous post and also my recent posts. But my clients can see my post.
Also, when my old clients send message using our old chat window, they said that the message is sent however, I cannot receive their messages and I don’t receive any notifications too.
Now that I have a new name in my page, when new clients send a message I can receive it however, I cannot reply to their messages. It says “error”
WHAT TO DO?? 🙁
Louise Myers says
Use the Facebook business help page to report the problems. https://www.facebook.com/business/help/support
Sarfaraz says
My Facebook account was compromised and someone got access to my page. He / she not only removed me as its admin, but also changed the name (not “username”). My account was locked by Facebook for suspicion, which I recovered later on. However, I could not get back my page. Thankfully, my brother, who had created the page and had passed onto me its management, was also an admin of the same page. So I contacted him, and he added me back as an admin. It is good to have family member or a close friend, as an admin, in this type of situation.
Now the problem is, when I want to change the name of the page to its previous name, Facebook message says “Creating content with this name is not allowed. Try another name.”
So what should I do? How to contact them that my page was hacked? I have proof of this from the emails I received after I was locked out being hacked. I have screenshots of notifications and emails too. Will it help, and if it does, how to contact Facebook?
Louise Myers says
Sorry to hear about that. If you don’t have an ad rep, here’s where you contact FB:
https://www.facebook.com/business/help/support
I’d definitely give it a try.
Sarfaraz says
It says that my account is disabled due to failed attempt at paying the outstanding amount. Is it the reason why I cannot change the name of my page? I also had disabled the business account because I saw the hackers there on the account, who had stolen my page. They are still there.
Thank you for your response though.
Louise Myers says
I really don’t know anything about outstanding amounts, etc. Sorry I can’t help.
Soren says
I’m in the same boat, our page was hacked. I’ve tried contacting business support but they say:
The request to change the name of the Page has been denied.
We’re unable to update your Page’s name because your request doesn’t follow our Page guidelines. The name you requested suggests that the subject of your Page has changed or may be misleading. This can be confusing for people who like your Page.
Page name change requests that don’t meet our guidelines include changes that may be misleading (example: renaming “I Love New York” to “I Love San Francisco”). Requests that meet our guidelines include removing descriptions from a Page’s name (example: renaming “John Smith, Trainer” to “John Smith”).
I’ve written them back with next steps but it seems that we might have to create an entirely new page assuming facebook will allow it.
We would loose all our followers, rating and the time it took to build the brand or business to what it is today.
The page was a dairy farm, Radiance Dairy and the hackers changed it to teewelove and we are trying to change it back.
I wonder how the hackers were able to change it to a totally different name without any issues?
Thanks and would appreciate any trips you might have.
Louise Myers says
Sorry to hear this. I don’t have any experience with hacked pages. There should be support under the Help tab.
You could also try what I have in this section “Change your FB Page category.” Would love to know if that still works.
As a last resort you could try what I have in this section “4 | Change your Facebook Page name a little at a time.” Not sure how you would though.
Good luck.

Hi Louise,
As businesses do, sometimes those running them go separate ways. Our page, run by us for years as name 1, renamed with a joint venture with others to name 2. This has not worked out, and we have moved on, to start a new business and changed to name 3. All of the businesses names reflect the business we do and with a sizeable following we, as the administrators throughout want to take the fans with us… we have always run the page and the business related to it. Are we breaking any date protection rules, if some followers joined during name 2 and are now with name 3, without their choice or permission? Should we let them know, over and above the Facebook notification of the name change, that we are a new entity??
Louise Myers says
Data protection laws are beyond the scope of this article and my expertise. For that you may wish to consult an attorney.
Veronica Parker says
I recently (w/n the last 2-3 weeks) changed the URL on my personal page. I created a ‘business’ page and wanted to use my previous URL (from my personal Facebook page) for that new business page, but it’s currently showing ‘not available’. What can I do to use my previous, personal URL as my new, business URL?
Louise Myers says
FB doesn’t tell us what their “rules” are for if and when they release previously-used names. The only thing I know to do is to keep checking so you can grab it if it’s released.
I would love if you follow up and let us know what happens! It would help me help others in this same predicament.
Mary says
Hi Louise,
Many thanks for this informative article!
My issue is that the existing company page we have for national will be changing it’s username to reflect it’s regional status, and we will then be creating a brand new, not directly connected (so merge doesn’t suit) new page using the original national username and handle. I’m finding it impossible to find information on “picking up” a previously used name and if it is possible is there a “cooling off” period whereby the name won’t be available (such as instagrams 14days). So sorry if this terribly confusing! I’d really appreciate any light you can shine on it.
Best,
Mary
Louise Myers says
TBH I wouldn’t depend on any info you might find online as the social media platforms change their policies so often.
Unless you have a really strong reason not to, your best bet is keeping the existing page for the business with the same name.
Madeleine says
Hello, thanks for your informative post. I want to merge 2 Business pages – Business A bought Business B. The names are very different. My plan is this:
-become admin of Business B (I’m already an admin of Business A)
-change the name of Business B to a similar name to Business A
-change the address of Business B to the same as Business A
-follow the steps to merge the pages (have read the Facebook help pages and online articles about this and it *seems* straightforward but you know how FB is)
I’m concerned about:
-the new name of Business B not being accepted
-the new name of Business B being accept but then the merge not being accepted
-what happens to the Business Manager accounts? Do they get merged at all?
Any insights from you or other commenters would be much appreciated!
Louise Myers says
I don’t have experience in merging to answer this, but maybe someone else will chime in.
As you probably know, the pages need to represent the same thing. So you might want to start with posting content about the new combined business on page B, and changing the address and such so it’s apparent that the page is about the same business / niche as page A.
Shir says
Thank you for this article.
It didn’t work for me yet.
I’m trying to change the name from English to Hebrew.
The name has a digit as well (the digit 1).
Do you know what I can do else?
Louise Myers says
As long as you’re following the page name rules I outlined in the article, it should be approved.
You could try without the numeral 1. If the 1 is standing in for an I, that won’t be approved.
There’s also a possibility that the Hebrew words appear to be something unsavory in another language.
Good luck.
Brandon says
I am having an issue because I can’t name my page after my business, which is my name. It’s my understanding that there can be duplicate page names so there should be no reason why I can’t get the page name. It’s connected to my FB profile which has the same name.
Louise Myers says
I don’t think the same name should cause an issue. However (just in case) maybe you could add your middle name or some other small change to your personal page? If it makes a difference please let us know!
Kevin Mallon says
Any thoughts on this: I changed our name successfully, just a couple of words. Then when I google or bing our facebook page the old url and page comes up as a listing and when you click it says page is broken. I don’t want to misdirect customers. Check the name rules again. There must be a reason they’re not approved.
Dane Trout says
My business is Trout Land Surveying.
I got a prompt from facebook to change my name on the page.. I thought it meant ‘my’ name so I entered my name..
It changed the name of my business and now a week later it won’t let me change it back to Trout Land Surveying, which is the name of my actual business… I have it under Google, registered an LLC in my state, file as an S Corp.. it’s legit, but I don’t know how to get them to let me change it back…
Louise Myers says
Is this for a business page, or a personal profile?
I’ve yet to hear of FB prompting a name change on a business page, however personal profiles aren’t allowed in a business name.
If it is a biz page, perhaps someone in another state has the same name and contacted FB to have yours removed.
Isabelle says
Hello ! Thanks for the info.
Do you know links from past posts will still go to my pro page if I change the name ?
Thanks !
Isabelle
Louise Myers says
If you change the name but not the URL, they should still work, as far as I know. But if you change your FB page URL, the links would be broken.
Travis says
I’m trying to change my page name to ThriveByWeb. This is the business name and formatting I have on file with the state and also trademarked. However, Facebook will not allow the camelcase name. I’ve tried everything and cannot find a way to get in touch with them to manually approve the name. Any advice on how I can get my Facebook page to match my registered business name?
Louise Myers says
Pretty sure you won’t be able to contact them unless you run a lot of ads and have an ad manager. FB requires page names to use “grammatically correct capitalization” so I doubt this name would be allowed. There may loopholes for big companies with big bucks though. Sorry.
Claire Cole says
Hi this article was great, if I change my page name and url – what happens to my Ad account please – does it impact it or does it automatically change the name in business manager? Many thanks
Louise Myers says
That’s a great question to which I don’t know the answer. If you run ads, you should be able to reach out to someone at FB to verify.
Lorri says
Hi Louise,
I have had a FB page for several years now. I teach private art classes in the summer so I send out my FB page to potential customers to reach me. I am now extending my art classes into the Fall. Since my FB page has the word “summer” in it, I want to remove it now. Can I remove just the word “summer” but still have customers find me if they search my old name? Will they be redirected? I have shared my old name to so many potential customers and worry that if I make this change then they can’t find me anymore. Do you have any suggestions or insight? Thank you Louise for your help,
Lorri
Louise Myers says
There are no redirects on FB pages. But, you don’t have to change your URL if you change your name. I’d suggest only changing the name.
First, try some searches on FB. Search your current page now without the word summer, or even replacing it with fall. Does it still come up in a FB search? Or even on Google?
You might want to have someone who’s not a FB-friend, search. Someone not connected to you on FB already.
It’s likely your page would still come up in search based on the other words in the query. This really depends on how many words though. If they just search “lori art class” (even misspelling your name) it might not.
Try it and then decide.
Lorri says
Thank you Louise for the help. I appreciate all the info. If I can keep my same url, that may do the trick. Have a wonderful day and week 🙂

Hi there – we have a business page for our shop. When we opened the shop I had one of my staff create and manage the page, and she linked this to a personal account in her name – this is not her main personal Fb page, it looks like she created a second personal page just for this purpose..,. She no longer works for us, and whilst I am able to manage the shop page fine, it bugs me that is linked to a personal page in her name and if i forget to change the settings I can end up posting in her name by mistake. Can i change this and link shop page to a different personal account??
Louise Myers says
Try under Settings > Page Roles.

I am trying to change my fb name. The name is appropriate and can be used because I tried creating a page with the name Didi’s Nutrition Consultancy and it worked, but I’m not sure what features about Didi The Trini DN’s page needs to be adjusted for the name change. I tried changing it to a business page, removed entertainment and just left it as nutritionist. What is preventing the name change?
Louise Myers says
I’m not clear on what you’ve done. You set up another page with the name you want to use on your current page?
One thing you can try is changing just one word at a time until you get to the name you want (unless you used it on another page. Then there’s no saying when or if you can get that exact name).
Other than that, FB sometimes does (or doesn’t do) things that don’t make sense. Unfortunately.
Udai Singh says
Hi Louise,
Than you for the article – it is extremely insightful indeed – especially since FB make it really hard to update page names & URL’s.
I just wanted some help – I wanted to use my current business page and change the information on it to represent my new business. Both the businesses are very similar and it’s more of a rebrand and brand name change. Is this recommended? Can I edit all of the information (website, description, hours, address , name URL etc.) and change that to my new rebranded business info? Would I have to change all of the other elements first before I make the name change? Would this give me a better chance to get the name & URL change approved by FB?
Any help yo offer would be great! and thanks again for the amazing article!
Kind regards,
Udai
Louise Myers says
Hi Udai, unfortunately I don’t know which order would work best. But I wouldn’t even attempt it unless you’re sure your current fans will be interested in the new, different content. The worst thing would be if they hide your posts or mark them as spam because they don’t know why they’re seeing posts from this strange page.
Jerryy says
Hi Louise!
Recently I tried to change my page’s name (that has two admin) into my name, but was unsuccessful for many tries. But again I tried to change it into a different language (not English) still not my name but relevant to the previous name, Facebook approves it in less than an hour. So why can’t I change it t on my name since the blog is Me as a teacher that teachers all the content in it?
Louise Myers says
I can’t say for certainty why FB does any of the things they do. But if your name is spelled the way you left it with this comment, they may consider it a misspelling.

Louise Myers says
Unfortunately, your requests don’t seem to be getting through, and I don’t know of a way to make that happen (unless you pay for ads and have a rep to contact).

Possibly improper capitalization or punctuation.
You can also try updating your page first but I don’t think that was the reason for the reply you received.

Hi Louise, how are you? I am in desperate need of some help with Facebook. I have just started a new business page and I need to change the name slightly. I need to do it from my mobile and it doesn’t have the options as you show in this article. Do you know how I can do it from my mobile phone? I need to do it from my mobile phone as I don’t remember my login and passwords for my initial personal account I set up years ago and have been unable to get help with this issue also. Any help you can give me would be so greatly appreciated.
I look forward to your reply. many thanks
Louise Myers says
There’s a video in this article that shows how to do it in a browser on mobile. You can’t do it in the mobile app.
Shellie says
THANK YOU!!
It’s annoying they keep changing it and it isn’t obvious!
Gabbie C. says
This was so helpful! Even fb wasn’t being able to explain to me how to change my page’s name as easily as you did. I had struggled for a few hours, thinking maybe it just wash;t possible to change the names anymore. Thank you!

That’s so great to hear! Thank you 🙂
Naomi Boulet says
Hi Louise,
Thank you for this informative article. I’ve tried changing my page name 2 weeks ago to a name that is more representative to my current business as a trauma therapist and relationship and intimacy coach.
I didn’t get any answer whatsoever, no notifications , emails or spam of disapproval. So I went back a few days later and submitted the same name change again. Again just crickets. Maybe it wasn’t a good idea, but I submitted the name change for the third time. I do see the message that there’s a pending name change request if I click on modifying it, but I don’t understand why they aren’t sending any notification of disapproval or reasons.
My page description, new categories, services and content all match very well the name I am trying to change into.
But it’s probably a big gap for facebook as i am trying to go from Naomi Boulet – Somatic Coaching to Naomi Boulet – Love, Intimacy & Trauma Healing. (Could the hyphen and the & be a problem here? )
Wondering why If I would have better chance first changing to just my name, and then trying to add the rest later?
I don’t really want to start a new page and do everything copy-paste, seems silly to me.
Thank you for your help!
Louise Myers says
The problem could be the word Healing. FB and other social platforms are trying to crack down on non-FDA approved “healing” methods. Even tho not exactly relevant, it still could be preventing your approval.
I think you have to wait until the change no longer says pending. If that never goes away, wait a few weeks anyway.
Then I would try to change one word at a time. I suggest just changing the word Somatic to something else that’s more common. “Relationship” Coaching? I’m not sure what works for you.
If that works you could continue to change or add a word at a time. I would definitely leave the word Healing for last.

Hi
Reading your points is good.
So I created a facebook account personal detail etc as per FB rules, I assume thats wat you suppose to do.
But I really just wanted was just a business page.
So wats the difference between doing a business page is this another package plugin versus or as appose to creating a page from drop don box for create page then do a business page once you login on your personal FB account. And benefits?
Thanks
Louise Myers says
The benefit of a Facebook business page is that you can promote your business. There’s no cost to it or plugin.
Per FB rules, you can’t promote your business on a personal profile.

My FB page name can’t be changed . plz hlp me…how to solve this prblm.????
“Your Page name can’t be changed.
You can update your Page category and add other info to describe your Page so it is easier for people to find it.”
Louise Myers says
Sorry but that sounds pretty definitive – For some reason, FB won’t let you change it.

I want to change the name of my verified facebook page without losing the check mark. The point is that I am a musician, I am verified with my name and the username is my artistic name.
Now I want my Facebook name to be changed to my artist name, as my username.
What do you think? Will I have problems if I change it? Could I lose my check mark?
Louise Myers says
It’s likely, and you’d have to go through the process again, which will be more difficult as an individual wanting to use a name that’s not on their government-issued photo ID.

Hi Louise,
Nice work on assisting others with the madness of FB!
Do you / can you do an update for changing a business page name with the new Desktop browser FB interface.
Kind Regards
Colin
Louise Myers says
Hey Colin,
Can you explain? MIne still looks the same.
Colin Molloy says
Hi Louise,
Cracked It! I can’t believe I missed this. For the benefit of you and others:
CHANGING FB BUSINESS PAGE NAME VIA 2020 COMPUTER BROWSER BASED INTERFACE:
1 Go to Bushiness Page.
2 In LH vertical menu – click on Page Settings at the bottom.
3 In LH vertical menu – click on Page Info.
4 Edit the Name field.
5 Click on the now highlighted Save Changes button.
6 Follow the prompts.
FB says it could take up to 3 days to be assessed and approved, but my change was instant. You receive a notification from FB.
Kind regards
Colin
Louise Myers says
How interesting. This must be a design change that’s rolling out. I don’t have it on any of my pages.
Thanks so much for sharing the update!

I set up a Facebook business page and I want to change the name and every instruction I see give screenshots of business page seems I business Pages where it says edit the name and stuff I eat none of my pages on my business page look anything like your screenshots. I see none of those options available at all. I do however see where it says edit the page and I go in there and I tap my current name and then it goes to a page and tells me I can’t do anything with this. I’m totally lost
Louise Myers says
You have to do this on a computer. You’ll get the error message if you try on mobile.
Liann says
Thank you so much for this. I tried out all the little things and finally it got automatically approved. Third try was the charm. Changing the category like you said to “brand” and “product” helped. As well as first changing my username/handle before the request so that the page change would match the user handle after.
Louise Myers says
Thanks for letting us know the tricks that helped.
Kacey Minor says
Once a page name change is approved, does the change happen automatically? Or are you notified in advance? We are trying to schedule all of our updates to happen on a specific day.
Thanks!
Louise Myers says
I don’t know of any way to control when the actual name change happens. It’ll be approved when it’s approved and go into effect shortly after, I believe. We are at FB’s mercy.

I’m trying to create a page for my business called Completely Cookies, but it keeps giving me an error.
Louise Myers says
This might be considered too generic, and generic names aren’t allowed.
Is there any explanation of the error?
Nicola Richards says
Hi I set up a faceboook page this week but put wrong name and it won’t let me change it
I’ve tried everything suggested but still no joy ! Help! I don’t want to have to delete pAge and start again
Louise Myers says
It’s probably too soon to change the name. Starting a new page with the correct name might be your fastest and easiest solution.

Hi. I changed my fan page name 3 weeks ago, but
I haven´t received a response from my request, I do not know exactly what happens.
Do you know if it´s normal for them to take so long or how much longer should I wait?
Thanks
Louise Myers says
I don’t think that’s normal, did you check your spam just in case?
I would wait 30 days and then try again. But if you’re not getting a reply, it seems something’s wrong.
