Sandra says
I also don’t have a favorite color. I think every color is beautiful and don’t want to just like one. God made all colors in the world he created so I can’t even think about choosing just one color. I will say that I wear lots of black but I do that for two different reasons. One because my husband didn’t like me to wear bright colors or any colors as far as that goes and the second is because I am over weight and I wear it to help me look thinner. If I do chose color, it isn’t any particular one. I usually paint the walls of my house white or close to it so I can don’t have to just use one color very long and can change it around more often without having to paint the walls all the time.

Great Infographic which I have pinned on Pinterest, I believe we should spare a thought or two for the people who are colorblind and whose world is somewhat more limited by that disability. I wrote an article on Lifehack which you can find here. It gives us another perspective, I feel, and I certainly learned a lot in researching it.

Hi! Talking about the colors, I do like the black most. Black is indeed an evil choice as in absentia of light literally means it.
More over, black is somewhat neutral, decent, and aggressive among all color patterns. I wish I could know more about the same. Thank you
Mary says
I’d be interested in knowing if you see the color of individual words. I read that everyone does but most lose that ability around 4 or 5 years old. I still associate colors with words & I’m 68. Once my daughter said she did, too (she was 19 at the time) & my husband said he didn’t believe us. We asked him to make a list of 20 random words and we went into different rooms with a copy & wrote down their colors. On comparison, we had the same color for every word but 2 of them. One she had green & I had aqua; the other she had brown & I had tan. The results surprised us all!
Louise Myers says
I hadn’t heard of this, Mary! Thanks for sharing this story, it’s really fascinating.

Hello Louise Mam,
Great information and its good…
and super InfoGraphics presentation…
Joseph Rovira says
My two favorites have always been purple and black. Girls have always complimented me when I wear those colors, so I obviously respond to that and who wouldn’t. Though the needs emotional support, well probably and yet I would loath to ever admit it.
Louise Myers says
Well who doesn’t 😉 Good job on picking colors that make you stand out!
Phyllis White says
I thought I was obsessed with color, especially blue, my absolute favorite! I’ve weeded out all the red I had years ago and prefer just about any shade of blue over anything else. Most of my wardrobe and furnishings are some shade of blue, but I do like green, purple, yellow and pink and various shades of each of those as well. I really hate red, though, am actually repelled by it. I can tolerate orange, more in the pastel range, though, and cranberry and magenta are about as red as I can stand, but not fire engine red, not even tomato or candy apple (unless it’s metallic on a car). What does all that say about me, I wonder?
Louise Myers says
That’s really interesting, Phyllis! I wonder if the color red reminds you of someone or something distasteful.
Nozi says
How do i say what is my favorite color as i love them all equally! However, for me, more depends on different shades/hues for different material.
Louise Myers says
You are truly a color lover!
revathi says
it is very very very very very good
Jurie says
Do not have a hard specific favourite colour thou leans towards a pearly blue darkish grey with streaks of green supported on brown. Not a mixup of colours but dynamic depending on mood, object/subject involved or portrait. Least propably purple, pink or a harsh blue.
Louise Myers says
Fascinating!
Ubaid says
So according to this, black is not the favorite color of even 1 % of people. Isn’t it strange?
Louise Myers says
I think in that study, they didn’t include neutrals as a choice!
shelby gibson says
I was red. That fits me perfect because all i do is sports and i love it.
Louise Myers says
Great to hear!
Naira says
My favorite color is yellow but could relate to almost all except 2!
Louise Myers says
Wow! Interesting.
Kieran says
If 42% of males favorite color is blue and 29% of the female populations favourite colour is blue; then your statement below, that 40% of the populations favorite color is blue is statistically incorrect (assuming that the population consists of 50% male and 50% is female).
Is there another gender accounted for in this survey that I don’t know about.
Louise Myers says
That’s funny! I didn’t compile the stats. My guess would be that the first study used only one country (probably US) while the second stat says worldwide. I will update if I find more.
Hammad khan says
Really its amazing description .. its impressive ..

Elspeth says
Not accurate for me either–in fact I’m the opposite, a perpetually anxious contrarian. My favorite color is gray because I love the drama, the calm, and the modern all combined. I think if your favorite color is grey your a person who makes your own judgments of people and events because picking grey isn’t exactly conforming–picking blue would be.
Just another nobody says
Aleays been Orange. I’ve just begun to socialize but I’ve always been more of a knowledge guy…. I guess it works for other people tho!
A says
Interesting read 🙂
I noticed one thing that is factually wrong – babies have horrible vision for the first few months. Babies can’t see subtle colors differences until about 2-3months of age. By 5 months they have full color development.
Source: college education; also: http://www.aoa.org/patients-and-public/good-vision-throughout-life/childrens-vision/infant-vision-birth-to-24-months-of-age?sso=y
Louise Myers says
Interesting. While they may not have full color development, I’ve found many articles online that say they can distinguish colors. Not subtle differences, of course!
Here’s one quote: At one week after birth, they can see red, orange, yellow and green.
Another: As their color vision begins to develop, babies will see red first – they will see the full spectrum of colors by the time they reach three months of age.
No idea how they determine this! I don’t think it’s terribly important – though an interesting subject.
Ha says
Very superficial read on colors. People choose their fav for different reasons. Mine didn’t match me in the least. And not to mention how can you lump all the blues together as if there’s not a hundred shades of it?

ι’м яє∂…. уαу!!
Louise Myers says
Awesome!
Denise Estrada says
You hit mine and my husbands personalities right on 100% correct. My husbands is purple and my first favorite color is pink, my second is red. I feel like pink best describes me tho.??
Denise Estrada says
I cant wait til we get my 3 year olds personality. He always says that red and purple are his favorite colors…..Now my youngest grandson is 8 months old…My oldest name is Evan and Hunter is 8 months old. I believe Evan always evaluates his favorite colors are right compared to his personalities. And I believe they are correct. I believe that they are correct.
Louise Myers says
Awesome to hear that!

Poonam Nandi says

Louise Myers says
Cool!
Lynwood says
Hi, Louise …
Always enjoy looking in on — and learning from — your articles.
You could do a great companion piece on the psychology of color in business. You touched on it here with your mention of red/yellow being ‘appetizing’ colors for the food industry. Not just McD’s, but Burger King, Carl’s Jr, Wendy’s, Taco Bell utilize variants of red/yellow.
Interesting how (medium) blue tends to connote business. Think IBM, Chase Bank, and scores of other banks.
It would be great to see you expand on this and speak with greater definition to the psychology of color in business. Wouldn’t it be tremendously helpful to keep in mind as we design ours or other S/M presences?
Best,
Lynwood in Phoenix
Louise Myers says
Absolutely! It’s a topic that fascinates me, but I don’t have a lot of expertise in. If I come across someone who’d be willing, a guest post on that topic is a must.
Thanks for the suggestion! Be sure to see the linked posts too, some of which are about color and branding.

Colors such as Gold, Silver (…and so on) don’t really count as separate colors to me. They are just shades of a regular color.
For example, Gold is pretty much a yellow color – It’s Metallic Yellow!
Silver is a grey color – it’s Metallic Grey!
Bronze is a brown color – it’s Metallic Brown!
Rose may have to do with a pink color!
(I forget what copper looks like but it’s your favorite)!
In my opinion, your favorite colors are grey, yellow and pink-yellow! ?
Stevey says
