Want to know how to get more Facebook likes?
Comments too?
Whether it’s on your business Page or your Personal Profile, likes and comments will make the Facebook algorithm happy, so your post will be seen by more users in the Facebook news feed.
So yeah, you want ’em!
But how do you get them? Without being spammy, irritating, or getting slapped by the Facebook algorithm?
There are ways – and we’ll look at the most effective here.
Let’s get started.
Likes and follows
Before we dive into the tactics and ideas to get more Facebook likes, let’s pause a moment.
Because there are two ways that someone can show Facebook they are interested in your stuff.
One is to ‘like’ your page in the traditional way.
The other is to ‘follow’ the page.
These are both types of likes, and help with that social proof element.
But most Facebook experts say that likes are the ones to focus on. Followers will, well, follow after this!
Why the post matters most
Facebook Likes are an important part of social proof. By liking your Page, someone has a better chance of seeing your posts.
But you also want the right Likes, because the most important metric of all is engagement.
We want people to engage with our stuff. That’s why having a few people who are really interested in it, is better than loads of random disinterested people.
This is why you never should buy Page Likes!
As a Facebook Page admin, you don’t just need Page Likes, though.
You also need post Likes and comments!
There are three aims with any Facebook post:
- To get people to notice them and pay attention.
- To get people to engage with them in some way (comments are the best).
- To get people to share your Facebook post with their friends.
By creating the best posts with these goals in mind, you’ll naturally increase your Page Likes.
Then Facebook will start showing your stuff to other people.
Who then Like your Page or share it with their friends.
And on it goes from there!
But there are also some ways to help give those Likes a boost.
Easy ways to get more Facebook post Likes & comments
The easiest way to get more likes and comments is to post the right types of content.
Some types of posts simply get more engagement.
Knowing which posts get more Facebook engagement is crucial for Page success.
Posting photos on Facebook and quote graphics works well for getting shares, likes, and comments. But those take time to find or create.
What could be easier than copying and pasting one of these wall posts?
Here are a few examples of the real winners in terms of helping to increase likes.
Ask Yes or No Questions
Everyone loves to share their opinion and can spare a few seconds to answer a Yes or No question. Here are some questions to try:
- Yes or No, are you looking forward to the weekend?
- Yes or No, are you having a good day?
- Yes or No, are you following the Presidential race / playoffs / other current event?
- Yes or No, do you like your job?
- Yes or No, are we sharing the right kind of content with you?
- Yes or No, have you ever been to (somewhere)?
- Yes or No, have you been to our store / website?
- Yes or No, do you have your own website?
Fill in the Blank
The human mind can’t resist completing a fill-in-the-blank post. Try some of these!
- The hardest thing about eating healthy is ____________.
- If I could be anywhere right now, I’d go to _____________.
- The number one thing I love about my life is ___________.
- The last movie I saw was _____________.
- One thing I’d like to tell the world about (your niche) is ____________.
- My favorite food is ____________.
- The first word that comes to mind to describe me is ____________.
- I enjoy (your niche) because ____________.
- I need ____________ cups of coffee to function in the morning.
- My number one (your niche) goal is _____________.
- My favorite song is ____________ by ____________.
And mix in some trivia questions about your business! Encourage fans to leave their answer in a comment for a chance to be your Featured Fan.
- (Your company) has ____________ employees.
- (Your company) has worked with ____________ Fortune 500 companies.
- (Your company) has been in business ____________ years.

Use polls and quizzes
In the same way as we love to fill in blanks, we love to give our opinion.
That’s why polls and quizzes are always popular and can help get more likes.
You can use the built-in feature on Facebook to create a poll.
Plus you can always add something in the option that encourages people to comment more. If you have asked for a recommendation, add something like ‘tell me in the comments why’ to help prompt them.
And you can use off-platform dedicated tools to create quizzes. These also make great lead magnets to get email subscribers. So they are multi-purpose!
Don’t do this
One Facebook post idea often recommended in the past was to post with, “Click Like if…”
Such as, “Click Like if you love Fridays.”
This worked well (really well!) until Facebook decided that it was “clickbait.”
So don’t tell people to like or share in your post caption, as Facebook will deep-six your post.
But do try Facebook ads
If you have a bit of a budget, boosting your better-performing posts will get you more post Likes and comments, and lift the success of your Page posts overall.
You can also consider Facebook Like ads, which are run to get Page Likes (not post Likes).
According to Facebook expert Kristi Hines, these Like ads are one of Facebook’s most affordable and effective ad units to grow your page’s fanbase and your business.

How to get Page Likes from your personal profile
An easy-to-overlook way to get more Page Likes is to add your Page to your personal profile in a way people can see.
It’ll be visible not only when people visit your profile, but also when they hover your name anywhere it appears on Facebook.
And, people can click the link right in the hovercard to visit your Page.
I took the screenshot below by hovering my name in the comment.
Think of this as your business card on Facebook! And it’s just a nice way to let people know more about you in an instant.
How to Add your Facebook Fan Page to your Personal Profile
Start on your Facebook personal profile. Click on either of the 2 places pointed out below. Both will take you to the same place, but the About button is more direct.
Now click the Add a workplace button under Work and Education.
Under Where have you worked, start typing your Fan Page name exactly as it’s spelled, and Facebook will suggest Pages in a dropdown menu. Select yours!
In the box that says Position, you could add your job title. OR you could add a call to action that entices people to click on your Page!
I put in: Click for fun & information on my Page. Facebook will add it and place it before your Page name.
Be sure I currently work here is checked, so this workplace rises to the top and shows in your hovercard.
When you’re done completing all the information you wish to share, click Save.
Now you’ve got a bit of free visibility for your Fan Page!
If you don’t use this, then all that will appear when someone hovers on your name is some basic account information:
- Where you live.
- Who you became friends with.
- Where you went to school.
- Mutual friends we share.
Interesting perhaps, but not really promoting your business, or getting more business Page Likes.
Don’t waste this valuable opportunity to tell people what you do and encourage them to like your Page!
Apply those Facebook basics
One of the best ways to get more Facebook likes for your page is to remember your Facebook basics.
Learn the best time to post to Facebook for your audience so you catch people when they are on the platform.
Use the best types of posts based on data from your Facebook Insights to cut down the work and get the best results.
Avoid those clickbait and engagement bait approaches that Facebook hates.
Combined with these best practices, these tips will help you increase your Facebook Likes, boost social proof, and get more eyes on your content.

Great tips, just one little problem and that is that when someone likes your page it may or may not actually increase the count. There is a very looooong ongoing thread about this problem in the FB help area. I understand one issue is that in order for a Like to be counted you have to be signed in under your profile – you can Like a page from your own page but FB doesn’t count it. Again, this is what I’ve managed to glean from all the complaints and frustrated messages. I do know that one day recently I had half a dozen messages indicating people had liked my page, but the count only increased by “1” … frustrating indeed.
Louise Myers says
Yep, you’re absolutely right, your page like count doesn’t increase from a like by another page. I think Facebook has done this purposely – since anyone can make as many pages as they want, they could use those pages to give the others 25 likes! That’s my interpretation anyway 😉 Thanks for stopping by!

This is a really good article on 3 ways to get more facebook likes.
At the end, you said it would get us better EdgeRank and Gout.
I don’t know what edging is, and I sure don’t want to get Gout…..

All the cool kids are hoping to get more Gout! Oh wait, that’s Klout!
I may write another post about EdgeRank. It’s a frustrating thing.
You’re on your own with Klout 😉 Tho I did learn that your FB personal profile appears to influence Klout the most – and adding your fan pages will decrease your score.
