5 Ways to Get People to Share Content For You

Want people to share your content?

It’s the best way to spread the word about your business!

If you do business online, make it a goal to get people to share your content with everyone they know. This greatly expands the network of people hearing about you!

But how can you motivate people to do it?  Let’s look at 5 motivating factors.

Appeal to Emotion

Content that gets shared appeals to emotion. When you excite people, whether in a good or a shocking way, people are going to take notice. This is by far the biggest reason people share content. Think about what you can do within your industry that will excite emotions. Some common ways to do this are to post funny videos or inspirational content.

Offer an Experience

If we experience something fun or different, we naturally tell our friends, because we want them to have the same experience. This also applies to sharing content online. What experience can you convey in your content that others people will want to share? Contests work well for this.

Provide Valuable Information

When you give out great information and help someone get results, then they’ll naturally want to tell people about you. They might even feel a little obligated to do something for you, because you helped them out!  What content can you create that will help someone get a specific result?

Make It Easy to Share

Share buttons are easy to add to a website or blog. People are more likely to share your content if you ask them, and make it very easy for them to do it.

Share for Share

An easy way to jump right in and get others to share your content is to share theirs! This can be informal, where you share another blog or social media account’s content, and hope they’ll return the favor. Or it can be more organized, like social networking sites.

There are two such sites I’ve had great success with. Both have a free and a paid plan. Check them out for some help getting the shares rolling! Plus, they’re a source of great content that your followers will appreciate.

Social Buzz Club: You share your choice of others’ content. After a set number of shares (5 or 10, depending on your plan), you can post one of your own to be shared by other members. I’ve found some great bloggers here, and am an enthusiastic affiliate for the program.

Triberr: Once you join, your new blog posts are automatically added to the stream for others to choose whether to share. Join “tribes” that post content your audience will enjoy, and the tribe members will probably like and share your content as well!

In Conclusion

When you create content that speaks directly to your target market, you’ll strike a nerve, and people will share your content. Start now by creating awesome content that gets people to take action. This kind of marketing can be one of the most powerful marketing tools in your arsenal.

Be sure to share others’ content too, so they’ll share content for you!

Great post, Louise. Actually (to continue our conversation from my site) this theme is lovely (based on Beautiful Pro from Studiopress) and uses the nice Lato font. Well customized as well. Hope you’re keeping well. 🙂
